This painting was created for the Shades of Pink Foundation which supports breast cancer research. The group worked on the Lyon House flower and herb gardens for the Designers Showhouse Tour in October 2005, co-sponsored by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
The home was designed in1923 by Albert Kahn and built in 1928 for Ralph Stone.
Owners have included John Fitch (1933) andWilliam Belknap (1937). It was rented in1942-43 by Charles Lindberg while advising Henry Ford on conversion from autos to bombers for WWII.
The home was purchased in 1949 by Roger & Helen Kyes. Mr. Kyes was Deputy Secretary of Defense under Eisenhower and Vice President of General Motors.
It was purchased in†2003 from the estate of Helen Kyes for Cranbrook Educational Community by a group headed by Mr Wayne Lyon and is now known as the Lyon House & Gardens.
